Rich and spicy with earthy undertones, natural crystal & a 6.6 NPA (132MGO) from our Matakana mountain site
Manuka Honey
Description
Bottled directly after harvest, and left to set to its own natural crystal.
Lab tested at 6.6 NPA MGO 132, a great buy !
The "frosting" is caused by the honey shrinking away from the glass as it sets, and bigger crystals
growing in the fine gap..a natural occurrence of true unadulterated real raw honey
Manuka is the first of our native shrubs to flower, in drifts of pure white, like snow over the hills
and valleys, so the bees must be ready and in top performance to bring in this precious nectar.
Every Apiary gives us a different rating, so all the Manuka batches are Laboratory tested.
The nectar is Amber in colour and jelly like in texture, so more difficult to extract, but well worth the effort.
The taste is rich, spicy caramel with a definite earthiness, the benefits are too numerous to mention here !
Clinical studies have proven it to be Antibacterial and Anti-inflammatory, also naturally supporting
wound healing and reducing the risk of infection. Most commonly used as an immunity booster
and at the slightest hint of a cold or sore throat, taken by the spoonful, it will instantly soothe and heal.
Available in a larger jar for an endless supply.
If you want to soften down the honey to runny,, warm, then place in a pot of hot water and bubble
slowly to melt, or of course microwave slowly with the lid off. This batch is from our Matakana site and has traces of Rewarewa in the nectar,
which flower early spring like the Manuka.. so is darker in colour and lighter
in the frosting.
